Birmingham is best known for its Civil Rights sights and musical heritage, but between live jazz and historic attractions catch the Birmingham Museum of Art or enjoy a detour through the city's botanical gardens.
Hermann Park has its reflective pool and Sam Houston in bronze and on horseback, but giant as it is, it’s home to more. The Houston Zoo is here, as is Miller Outdoor Theatre, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The Hermann Park Golf Course is even the first public golf course in the U.S. to be desegregated. But if just taking a meander through the park is more your speed, look out for McGovern Lake’s geyser, find the interactive fountains at Molly Ann Smith Plaza, take a seat in a pagoda or near the Pioneer Monument Obelisk.
