Bainbridge, Georgia was incorporated in 1829. Located in the southwest corner of Georgia, it sits on the banks of the Flint River, near popular Lake Seminole. There was once an Indian village known as Pucknawhitla on the current site of Bainbridge.
While Bainbridge offers beautiful historic homes, nice walking tours, and several festivals, it is perhaps best known for its numerous recreational outlets.
Seminole State Park is located on the banks of Lake Seminole. This park is very popular with those who enjoy hunting. Sport fishing, deer and duck hunting are some of the activities enjoyed here. In fact, Lake Seminole is considered one of the best bass fishing spots in the entire US. Other activities include water skiing, canoeing, bicycling, and miniature golf. The park's inviting 2.2-mile nature trail makes exploring southwest Georgia's wildlife easy. The gopher tortoise, Georgia's only native tortoise, calls Seminole State Park its home. Cottages and campgrounds are available.
Bainbridge is located at the intersections of Highways 84 and 27, about 15 miles north of the Florida state line.
